Nokia N8 Features

nokia n8
With the N8, based on the Symbian 3 operating system, Nokia clearly hopes to make a strong move on the smartphone market. The current Nokia N8 review brings you the facts about this long-awaited Nokia release.

The N8 phone brings a 12 megapixel camera and 720P video recording capability, an an aluminum frame with a retro look, and a cool futuristic feel. The color range for the device is quite large, and similarly to many other Nokia products, the N8 has a solid build, like it is meant to be used for decades.

The camera is a great selling point, it brings fine image quality in most daylight conditions, and can function well even at night, using a powerful Xenon flash. The two-stage shutter button and responsive focus can fill even the most dedicated photography needs unlike most smartphones on the market. The video, shot in 720P can look choppy, since it's shot at 25 FPS, compared to the 30 FPS offered by most smartphones. All that aside the auto focus gets the job done well from 6 feet to infinity, and captures a lot of action with its generous 28mm wide angle lens.

The touch screen is is almost scratch-proof due to its Gorilla Glass surface. It's designed to withstand all manner of scratching, dropping and abuse, while remaining smooth and shiny. It was made to survive, and that's what it does. Behind this glass there is the 3.5-inch AMOLED screen that brings a 640x360 resolution. Not necessarily the most impressive resolution for a smartphone, yet sufficient to get the job done, especially with the crystal-clear colors it can display.

The battery life of the N8 lasts up to 48 hours of normal use and around 12 hours talk time between charges, thanks to it's 1200mAh Li-Ion battery. This battery cannot be removed by the user, at least not without the use of a special (Torx) screwdriver.

Any decent Nokia N8 review should mention the generous list of features: Bluetooth 3.0 plus A2DP, 802.11n WiFi, USB On-The-Go support, GPS (both the real and assisted), 16GB of built-in storage, and a MicroSD slot for adding up to 32GB more. There are also light and proximity sensors, as well as an accelerometer and magnetometer, so that you remain well oriented wherever you take this phone.
This Nokia N8 review ends here, in hopes of having helped you with choosing your next smartphone.
